Pasqua ‘La Paccio’ Primitivo Salento IGT 2014

Zinfandel from Italy - Other
Review Date : 26-Sep-2016
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with black hues and lighter purple on the rim. The nose is soft and full, a little reserved in expression initially, revealing ripe, dark-red and blueberry fruit aromas melded harmoniously with subtle notes of game and funky earth. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and succulent with flavours of ripe, savoury dark-red berry and black plum fruit, along with subtle and complexing notes of game and earth. The sweetly ripe fruit is balanced by grainy tannin extraction, and the palate is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The mouthfeel is bright and vigorous and carries with good energy to a rich, lingering finish of plums and blue fruits, and fine, grainy textures. This is a rich and succulent Primitivo with plum and blue fruits, grainy textures and a fresh, vibrant mouthfeel. Serve with game meat and casseroles over the next 3+ years. 100% Primitivo from estate vineyards in Manduria, Salento, Apulia, fermented to 13.5% alc., with 50% of the wine aged 30-40 days in barriques. 17.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $18.99
