Pask ‘Small Batch – Wild Yeast Ferment’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Dec-2016
Brilliant lemon-hued yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter edged. This has an elegantly presented nose with tightly concentrated and deep aromas of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with subtle creamy barrel-ferment notes and nutty, oak with suggestions of smoke. Mineral nuance emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has moderately rich flavours of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruit melded with subtle creamy barrel-ferment layers, nutty oak and hints of toast and smoke. The mouthfeel is rounded, but refreshing with lacy acidity. The flavours grow in depth to form a positive core, and gently fill the moth, carrying to a long, soft-textured finish of citrus fruit and nutty oak. This is a gently rich and mouthfilling, citrus-fruited Chardonnay with creamy and nutty oak balanced by fresh, lacy acidity. Match with seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. Gimblett Gravels fruit wild yeast fermented in seasoned French oak puncheons to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in oak. 257 dozen made. 17.5+/20 Dec 2016 RRP $25.00
