Pask ‘Small Batch – Sur Lie’ Gimblett Road Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Apr-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is fresh with moderately full and intense aromas of pure citrus fruit along with mealy and nutty elements. The aromatics are steely with cutting mineral nuances that lend a youthful firmness. Medium-bodied, the palate has good depth and intensity of citrus fruits entwined with mealy and nutty notes. The fruit has purity and clarity and enlivened by crisp, refreshing acidity. The wine follows a concentrated and dry, fine-textured line leading to a fine, sustained finish with citrus and mineral notes. This is a fresh, elegant Chardonnay with good intensity of citrus, nutty and minerally flavours. Match with seafood over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Gimblett Road’ vineyard, fermented in seasoned oak and stainless-steel tank to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months on lees with 3 months of batonnage, followed by 2 months maturation in seasoned French oak. 239 cases made. 17.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $25.00
