Pask ‘Small Batch – Sur Lie’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Dec-2016
Bright, lemon-hued straw-yellow colour with a light edge. The nose is fresh with tightly bound, pure, steely white stonefruit aromas and a fine and delicate core of nutty, yeasty, mineral notes. Medium-bodied, the palate is tight and taut with good depth of white stonefruit and citrus fruit flavours that grow in sweetness and richness. The mouthfeel is crisp and zesty, the fresh, lacy acidity balancing the fruit richness and providing the palate with energy and tension. The wine flows with good drive along a fine-textured line, leading to a mouthwatering finish with an amalgam of citrus fruits and minerals. This is a crisp, refreshing unoaked Chadonnay with moderately rich citrus and stonefruit flavours, along with subtle nutty and mineral notes, in the Chablis style. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 3 years. Gimblett Gravels fruit fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months on lees with batonnage. 250 cases made. 17.0+/20 Dec 2016 RRP $25.00
