Pask ‘Gimblett Road’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Jun-2015
Very dark, near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is fresh and openly voluminous with aromatic black and white pepper, black berried fruits and lifted dark red florals, along with subtle herbal nuances. Medium-bodied and elegantly presented, the flavours of black berried fruits are lifted by white and black pepper aromatics, dark red florals and piquant herbs. The fruit is enlivened by brisk, lacy acidity and underlined by grainy tannin extraction, lending a firm-textured line that is driven by some alcohol power. The palate carries to a crisp, lively, refreshing finish with white pepper and black fruit flavours. This is an elegant, firm-textured and brisk Syrah with white and black peppery aromas and flavours. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 3-4 years. Syrah fruit from Gimblett Road, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in seasoned French oak. 16.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $22.00
