Pask Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Dec-2016
Full, dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh with well-packed aromas of blackberry fruit melded with dark herbs, aromatic red florals and a layering of white and black pepper, unfolding nuances of iron-earth. Medium-full bodied, the palate possesses fresh flavours of red berry fruits entwined with notes of dark and fresh herbs, red florals, white and black pepper and spice nuances. The mouthfeel is lively from lacy acidity and the fruit is supported by light, supple tannins. The palate is refreshing and accessible, and carries to a brisk finish with light red fruit, herb and peppery notes. This is a lively Syrah with red berry fruit, herb and peppery flavours on a supple, refreshing palate. Serve with pasta, poultry or pork dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Settlement 2’ block, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in seasoned French oak. 1,840 cases made. 17.0/20 Dec 2016 RRP $22.00
