Pask Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Dec-2016
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. This has a fresh, clean, moderately deep nose with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, light citrus fruit elements some creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak notes, unfolding mineral nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate is firm and tightly bound with flavours of white and yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits and subtle nutty oak, along with mouthwatering minerals. The mouthfeel is fresh and crisp from the bright acidity and the wine flows with positive energy along a fine phenolic line leading to an elegant, softly lingering finish of stonefruit and citrus fruits. This is a firm, tightly bound, elegant Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus flavours along with nutty oak notes on a crisp palate. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3 years. Chardonnay fruit predominantly from the ‘Settlement 1’ vineyard, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in seasoned barriques and puncheons, undergoing batonnage. 770 cases made. 17.0/20 Dec 2016 RRP $22.00
