Pask ‘Declaration’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Light golden colour, the bouquet is full and gently voluminous with ripe citrus and yellow stonefruit aromas, growing to show real depth and density. The fruit is harmoniously interwoven with creamy barrel-ferment layers, hints of cashewnuts, smoke, oak toast and complexing flinty detail. Full-bodied with considerable presence, the palate exudes richness and detail, but retains a degree of elegance and finesse, the mouthfeel beautifully textured and smooth-flowing. Creamy barrel notes are integrated with grapefruit, savoury and nutty stonefruits, smoky and toast. A fine line of acid carries the flavours to a soft, long-lingering finish, the flinty, lees and oak blossoming. Medonza clone fruit from the ‘Gimblett Road’ vineyard fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc, the wine aged 11 months in new French oak barriques, undergoing batonnage, with no MLF. 19.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $40.00
