Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter edged. This has a very full, rich and harmoniously concentrated nose with deep and opulent aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits and tropical fruit notes melded with decadent layers of creamy barrel-ferment and buttery MLF notes, and complexing nutty, smoky and toasty oak. Medium-bodied, the palate is rich and opulent, with mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits and tropical fruits integrated with creamy, nutty oak and butter MLF elements. The oak is bold with spices, nuts and toast. The fruit is underlined by very fine phenolic textures and the richness balanced by lacy acidity lending tension and drive. The flavours carry to a very long and sustained finish with an array of detailed fruit and oak nuances. This is a rich, opulent Chardonnay with mouthfilling flavours of ripe stonefruit, citrus and tropical fruit along with layers of creamy oak, buttery MLF and spicy, toasty oak on a fine, fresh line. Match with grilled and roasted pork over the next 4-5 years. Mendoza clone fruit from the ‘Settlement 1’ vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented in 100% new French oak puncheons to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in barrel with 4 months batonnage. 435 dozen made. 19.0/20 Dec 2016 RRP $40.00
