Parusso ‘Ornati’ Barbera d’Alba DOC 2014

Barbera from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 05-Oct-2015
Even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is tightly held and firm with fresh dark red cherry fruit lifted by florals and entwined with earthy and minerally reductive notes and some resinous seasoned oak elements. This has a good core that opens and blossoms with cherry lift with aeration. Light-medium bodied and slender in proportion, the mouthfeel is brisk and refreshing, the acidity enlivening the tightly bound cherry fruit. Some herbal notes show along with florals and minerally reduction. The fruit is supported by light tannin textures and driven by the acidity, and the wine carries to a sweet, juicy and fresh, moderately long finish. This is an elegant and slender, refreshing Barbera with red cherry and floral fruit along with some reduction. Match with pasta, antipasto and tapas over the next 3 years. Barbera fruit, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 5-6 months in barriques and stainless-steel vats. 16.0/20 Oct 2015 RRP $32.99
