Parnasse Syrah Pays d’Oc 2012

Syrah from France - Other
Review Date : 23-Oct-2013
100% Syrah from Nimes, Beziers and the Aude Valley fermented to 13.5% alc., a portion of the wine aged in 1 and 2 y.o. oak barrels. Full, dark, deep ruby-red with youthful purple hues on the rim. The nose is tightly packed with firm and dense aromas of earthy black fruits along with spice notes and pepper, along with minerally, reductive-like Syrah varietal elements and some resinous oak nuances. Medium bodied, gently sweet, rich and jammy fruit flavours of dark raspberries, black berry fruit along with spicy, peppery notes fill the mouth. This is up-front and approachable with soft, supple tannins and soft acidity adding to the mellowness. The flavours have moderate depth and drive, leading to a medium length finish of lush blackberry and boysenberry notes. This is a soft and juicy Syrah with sweet, ripe black fruit flavours. Match with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 3-4 years. 17.0/20 Oct 2013 RRP $19.99
