Paritua Syrah 2019, Hawke’s Bay

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Jun-2021
Deep purple with a ruby-black hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is lush and attractive, dark plums, ripe blackberries' nuances interweave black pepper dusting, eucalyptus, sweet herbs and mealy details. The fruit has purity with perfect ripeness and concentration. Full-bodied, vivid aromas of dark plums, blackberries have a savoury edge, melded with meaty suggestions, delicate black pepper powder, sweet herbal elements and barrel spices. The palate is well-packed with perfectly ripe fruit and delicious complexities, supported by fine-grained, firm yet supple tannin and integrated lively acidity. The length is long with compacted flavours, unfolding spices as it lingers. This brilliant Syrah has perfectly ripened fruit and depth of flavour, with a great structure and length. Match with lamb ribs and sirloin steak over the next 10 years. Handpicked, destemmed, 20% whole berry in tank, cold-soaked for few days then followed by fermentation, MLF in tank during post-ferment maceration and aged in French oak barriques and puncheons for 14 months, 50% new oak. 13% alc. 19-/20 pts (95 pts) June 2021 RRP $49
