Paritua Stone Paddock Syrah 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Oct-2021
Deep, full, ruby-red with a purple core, lighter on the rim. The nose is full, packed with succulent aroma of blackberries, plums, melded with clove, dark herbs, and peppery spice. Full-bodied, savoury edged blackberries intermixed red ones, plums, enriched by dried herbs, clove, black pepper and mocha. The wine is packed with fruit and freshness; herbaceous and spice details added complexity. Fine-grained tannin extraction contributes to weight and texture on the palate. This Syrah has generous flavours of fruit, rich herbs and spices on a savoury, fine-grained palate. Match with char-siu and grilled lamb over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Bridge Pa Triangle, destemmed, partially crushed to tank, a short period of cold soaked, fermented to 14% alc, aged in barriques for 12 months, 20% new. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Oct 2021 RRP $24.95
