Paritua Stone Paddock Merlot 2018, Hawke’s Bay

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-Jan-2021
Deep, ruby-red with depth and transparency, lighter edged. The nose is softly full, ripe plums aroma melded with cedar, cocoa nibs and barrel spices. Medium-full bodied, the palate is bright with nuances of red plums, cedar along with cocoa nibs, warm spices of cinnamon, nutmeg lifted on the finish. The fruit is with intensity. Acidity is bright, lighten the mouthfeel constructed by fine-grained ripe tannin, lends a moderate length finish. This is a bountiful plum-flavoured Merlot with cedar and cocoa nibs details on a fine-grained texture palate. Match with lamb rump and skirt steaks over the next 3 years. Destemmed, fermented in closed fermenters to 14.5% alc, aged in barrels for at least 12 months. 17.5/20 pts (88 pts) Jan 2021 RRP $25
