Paritua Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Sep-2018
Very dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is softly full and gently voluminous with aromas of ripe blackberries and black plums, and nuances of dark raspberries along with black pepper, Asian spices and an amalgam of liquorice and violet florals. This has excellent depth and detail. Full-bodied, the palate is rich and lusciously sweet, with plush, ripe fruit flavours of blackberries and black plums with dark raspberry nuances, complexed by pepper, liquorice and spices. The fruit forms a firmly packed core with plenty of drive, and considerable grainy tannin structure in support. The acidity is soft and integrated, and the wine carries to a fulsome, solid and dense finish. This is a rich and lusciously sweet Syrah with plush blackberry, plum and raspberry fruit with pepper, spices and liquorice on a firm palate with plenty of structure. Match with roasted and grilled game meat over the next 7-10+ years. Fruit destemmed and partially crushed with fermentation of approx. 20% whole berries to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 50% new French oak. 19.0-/20 Sep 2018RRP $49.00
