Paritua Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 30-Jul-2017
Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter on the rim and youthful in appearance. The nose is intense and well-concentrated with aromas of ripe blackberry fruit along with fragrant violet and black florals, unfolding an array of Asian spices, black pepper, liquorice and black plums. Medium-bodied, the palate is finely presented with a tight core of ripe blackberry fruit entwined with spices, ripe plums and liquorice, revealing subtle notes of black pepper and violet florals. The fruit is supported by fine-grained, powdery tannin extraction and balanced, fresh acidity. The wine carries with good energy and vitality to an elegant, lingering finish of black fruits, spices and liquorice. This is a fine and elegantly concentrated Syrah with ripe black fruits, liquorice and spice flavours. Match with game meat dishes over the next 7-9 years. Hand-picked fruit, destemmed and fermented with approx. 20% whole berries to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 50% new oak, of which 25% are in puncheon format. 18.5/20 Jul 2017 RRP $44.99
