Paritua Chardonnay 2019, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-Jan-2021
Bright, pale yellow with some depth, slightly lighter on edge. The nose is elegant and soft with a sense of purity, nuances of citrus, stonefruit along with mineral crunch, melded with a hint of vanilla oak and spice. Medium-full bodied, lemon meringue, peaches interweaves citrus peels, vanilla and cloves. The mouthfeel is silkened and creamy; mouthwatering acid tension drives a clean, mineral finish. The use of oak is balanced and discreet added spicy interest and a fine-textured phenolic line. This is a stonefruit-citrus-flavoured Chardonnay with an elegant acid tension and good energy on a balanced, creamy flow. Match with prawns and white risotto over the next 5+ years. Whole bunch gently pressed, barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc, lees stirred, left on lees in barrels for 12 months, 50% MLF. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Jan 2021 RRP $39
