Palliser Estate ‘Special Release’ Martinborough Rosé 2015

Rose from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 06-Oct-2015
Bright, very pale salmon-pink colour, very pale on the rim. This has a fresh, voluminous nose with harmonious and softly concentrated aromas of strawberry fruit, pink florals, sherbet, and integrated nuances of fruit pastilles and hints of lifted fermentation esters. The aromatics show with clarity and purity, unfolding rich strawberry and cream notes with aeration. Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, soft strawberry fruit flavours are lifted by floral notes, along with nuances of fruit pastille confectionary and esters. The flavours are integrated and in beautiful balance, and flow seamlessly. The mouthfeel is lush and slippery, quite seamless in flow, and enlivened by soft acidity, and the wine carries to a long, aromatic finish of florals and confectionary notes. This is an elegant, aromatic strawberry fruited rosé with lifted floral and fruit pastille notes, and a seamless mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif, with canapes and with Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. 100% Pinot Noir from the ‘Pinnacles’ and ‘East Base’ vineyards, given 4 hours skin contact and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 5 g/L RS, the wine spending 3 months on lees. 18.0+/20 Sep 2015 RRP $22.85
