Palliser Estate Martinborough Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 08-Dec-2014
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on rim. This has an elegant and finely presented nose with well-concentrated and lifted aromas of lime and citrus fruits, along with floral elements, a suggestion of honey and wet-stone minerals that unfold in the glass. Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, there is a rich core with an amalgam of complex flavours of lime fruit, yellow florals, minerals and a little honied toastiness. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing and the wine follows a tight, dry line with very fine phenolic textures and ripe acidity adding to the soft dryness. The wine carries through to a long, concentrated and nuanced finish. This is a smooth-flowing dry Riesling with a core of citrus and minerally flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with mild Asian cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. Martinborough fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 8 g/L RS, TA 6.6 g.L and pH 2.97, the wine spending 8 months on lees. 18.0+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $22.85
