Palliser Estate Martinborough Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 02-May-2011
This is pale straw-yellow in colour with a pale edge. Very fine on bouquet, this has very attractive lime, floral and lifted orange blossom notes nuanced with minerals and exotic perfumes. Dry to taste, this is elegant and showing lovely delicacy of florals and blossoms. The wine is nuanced and the acidity is balanced and refreshing. This finishes with good length.  Apr 2011 Riesling in the hands of Allan Johnson is just as much a star varietal as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. From a long-ripening season, this was cool-fermented to 12.5% alc., and 7.6 g/l rs. Very light, pale straw colour with youthful green hues, this has a beautiful, ethereal bouquet, with delicate, lime, white floral and mineral notes along with subtle herb elements. Off dry on palate, this has an elegance and delicacy of expression, slightly cooler in fruit expression, the flavours of lime with a herb infusion, this quite striking and attractive. There is a textural firmness which is carried through the palate, reinforced by the racy acidity. This will be a good match with cooked shellfish over the next 4-5 years. 18.0/20 Dec 2010 RRP $17.00
