Palliser Estate Martinborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 13-Jan-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on edge. The nose is fine and tightly bound with fragrant fruit aromas of white stonefruits, pears and nuances of honeysuckle lifted by white floral elements. The nose is refreshing and poised, showing concentration. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, elegantly concentrated, aromatic fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits are entwined with subtle pear, honeysuckle and floral notes. The mouthfeel features a very fine-textured phenolic line, and the palate is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The wine flows with positive linearity to a refreshing, gentle finish of stonefruits, honeysuckle and florals. This is an elegant, finely aromatic off-dry Pinot Gris with a fresh mouthfeel. It will grow in richness over the next 3-4 years. Match with Asian cuisine. Fruit 80% Berry Smith clone from the ‘Om Santi’ vineyard and 20% clone 2-15 from the ‘East Base’ vineyard, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 5.7 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on primary lees. 18.0-/20 Jan 2016 RRP $28.50
