Review Date : 20-May-2013
Clones 15 and 95 from the ‘Om Santi’ vineyard and Mendoza from 25 y.o. vines from the ‘Palliser’ vineyard 22% indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 28% new French oak barriques on lees, with 100% MLF. Bright, full and even straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The bouquet is fresh and full with an array of rich stonefruit and citrus fruit aromas that are harmoniously integrated with mealy notes, nutty, toasty oak and nuances of flinty complexity. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, rich and well-concentrated flavours of ripe citrus and stonefruits are complemented by attractive biscuit, toast and nutty layers. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with excellent acid tension and energy, the palate showing depth at the core and driven linear flow. This has balance and harmony, and the flavours lead to a very finely textured and softly concentrated, long finish with citrus and toast flavours This is an elegantly rich and softly concentrated Chardonnay with freshness and harmonious layers of flavour. Serve with seafood, poultry and white meats over the next 4-5 years. 18.5+/20 May 2013 RRP $30.00
