Full, bright, straw-yellow with golden hues, the nose is very finely expressed with layers of ripe tropical and mealy stonefruit aromas with balanced, nutty oak. An elegant and refined wine, the flavours of clean, ripe tropical fruits, mealiness and fragrant, nutty-spicy oak are superbly interwoven and near seamless integrated. The wine is concentrated and has excellent depth, the barrel-fermentation providing soft, creamy textures, but with good acidity for freshness. A long, nutty-nuanced finish is a highlight. Based on Mendoza and clone 95 Chardonnay, fully barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc. and matured 10 months in French oak, with approx. 15% MLF. Another outstanding Chardonnay from Allan Johnson's team, to drink with rich seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 19.0-/20 Jul 2011 RRP $30.00
