Palacio de Oriente Rioja Tempranillo 2017

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 17-Sep-2018
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly firm with ripe and sweet aromas of red berry fruit entwined with a layering of dark herbs and subtle notes of earth, unfolding savoury dark-red florals. Aromas of black cherry and berry fruit emerge with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate has sweetly rich, up-front and juicy, uncomplicated flavours of cherries, raspberries and plums along with subtle notes of dark herbs and earth. This has lifted florals and hints of confectionary from whole berry fermentation. The flavours are up-front, succulent and mouthfilling and are supported by supple tannin grip with soft acid liveliness. The flavours carry to a juicy, fruity, aromatic finish. This is a sweet and juicy, upfront Rioja Tempranillo with cherry raspberry and plum flavours with confectionary lift on a supple palate. Match with tapas, pasta and barbecued fare over the next 3 years. Tempranillo fruit from Rioja fermented to 13.0% alc. 17.0+/20 Sep 2018 RRP $16.99
