Paddy Borthwick Wairarapa Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 16-Aug-2016
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, paler on the rim. This has a fresh, full and voluminous nose of pungent passionfruit and tropical fruit aromas along with fresh herbs, floral elements and a fine minerally thread. The aromatics build in intensity with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated and well-proportioned with a harmoniously packed core of pungent passionfruit layered with tropical fruits, dark herbs and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is refreshing and the palate posed with fine, lacy acidity, and a soft phenolic line carries the wine to a very long, lingering, finely concentrated, mouthwatering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, harmonious Sauvignon Blanc with pungent passionfruit flavours and a poised, refreshing palate. Serve with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Borthwick’ vineyard Gladstone, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and <1.0 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on gross lees. 18.5/20 Aug 2016 RRP $23.00
