Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 14-Jun-2022
Deep, ruby-red with a black hue, lighter on edge. The nose is full and broody, dark herbs entwined with black fruit bark and toasty oak. Medium-full bodied, blackberry, black cherries and dark thyme have a firm core, unfolding clove and cinnamon bark. Fine-grained tannin extraction leaves a soft yet firm, youthful grip. Herbaceous details linger with balanced acidity to a mouth-filling finish. This herbaceous Pinot Noir possesses dark fruit and herbs with toasty oak spice details and structure. Match with lamb shoulder and venison loin over the next 5-7 years. Natural yeast fermentation to 13.8% alc, aged 11 months in French oak, 30% new oak. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) June 2022 RRP $35
