Paddy Borthwick Pinot Gris 2021, Wairarapa

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Nov-2021
Bright, even, pale golden-yellow with some depth. The nose is full, packed with fresh aromas and spice, reminiscent quice, pear and five-spice, underlying an amalgam of white floral. Medium-full bodied, dry to taste, mouth-filling aromas of ripe quice and pear entwined with five-spice and floral linger. The mouthfeel is almost unctuous with a light phenolic grip; integrated with concentrated fruit and succulent acidity, five-spice draws a lengthy, sustained finish. This is a juicy Pinot Gris with generous ripe fruit and spice power on a textural palate. Match with lemongrass chilli pork and dim sum over the next 3 years. Fruit from Gladstone, a portion fermented cool in stainless steel and a portion warm-fermented in older French oak, 14.3% alc, 4.5 g/l RS, aged on lees for 9 months before blending, fining and filtration. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2021 RRP $24
