Paddy Borthwick ‘Falloon Block’ Wairarapa Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Jun-2016
Ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is bright with vibrantly rich and deep aromas of red cherry and raspberry fruit harmoniously entwined with subtle layers of dark and dried herbs, earth and spices, unfolding nuances of raspberry liqueur. The fruit is intense and focussed, and shows good depth. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses full, soft and gently rich, mouthfilling flavours of soft red berry fruits and dark raspberries, melded with dark and dried herbs and nuances of earth and spices. The palate has good mouthfeel and presence with well-balanced tannin extraction and fine grip, and integrated acidity. This has a concentrated core with drive and linearity that carries to a soft, lingering finish of savoury red fruits, earth and spice nuances. This is a gently full and softly rich, savoury raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with balanced structure. Match with slow cooked game meat and casseroles over the next 5+ years. A mix of clones, Abel, 10/5 and 115, from vines up to 20 y.o., destemmed and fermented to 13.6% alc., 80% of the wine aged 7 months in oak. 18.0/20 Jun 2016 RRP $28.00
