Paddy Borthwick Chardonnay 2021, Wairarapa

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 14-Jun-2022
Bright, even, pale yellow with depth. The nose is soft, with lifted floral, citrus nuances and flint on the nose, unfolding a honied note and roasted nut. Medium-full bodied, mouth-filling on the palate with intense aromas of lemon, pineapple and grapefruit interweave roasted hazelnut, spice and flint. The fruit is fleshy and concentrated; supported by the acid tension flows smoothly with a buttery, creamy mouthfeel and minerals adorn, lending a sustained finish. This is a generous Chardonnay with succulent fruit and acid balance on a creamy palate. Match with roasted chicken and ham over the next 5+ years. Whole berry pressed, wild yeast fermented in French oak puncheons to 13.5% alc, aged on yeast lees for 10 months, 20% new oak. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) June 2022 RRP $24.50
