Pa Road Marlborough Pinot Gris 2017

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Sep-2017
Brilliant light straw colour with slight green hues, pale on the edge. This has a fresh and intense nose with penetrating aromas of yellow stonefruits entwined with exotic florals, rose-petal notes and spice, unfolding hints of honeysuckle and fresh fermentation esters. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has an elegantly concentrated heart of yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits, and fragrant rose-petals. The fruit forms a firm core and line, and the wine flows with underlying alcohol and acid drive, along a fine-textured phenolic thread, leading to a lingering finish with stonefruits, florals and spice. This is a concentrated and firm, dryish Pinot Gris with good intensity of stonefruits and rose-petal flavours and some alcoholic and acid drive, Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2-3 years. A blend of 65% ‘Redwood Hills’ Awatere Pinot Gris and 30% ‘Home Block’ Wairau Bar Pinot Gris with 5% ‘Redwood Hills’ Gewurztraminer, tank-fermented with 7% in seasoned French oak to 13.5% alc. and 7 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Sep 2017 RRP $17.99
