Bright, even straw-yellow colour with lemon hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and concentrated with intense aromas of gooseberries, sweet grass, nettles and a touch of minerally reduction. This is very Awatere in expression. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of grassy, gooseberry fruit is up-front, mouthfilling and broad revealing some subtle secondary bean-like notes, the fruit growing to show a good core. The mouthfeel features very fine textures and soft chalky acidity which carries the wine to a thirst-quenching, dry, minerally nuanced finish. This is a classical Awatere Sauvignon Blanc with full, open, grassy flavours and a dry, mouthwatering finish. Serve with seafood and herb-marinated poultry dishes, and goats cheese over the next 18 months to 2 years.
