O:TU ‘Blend 202’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Aug-2013
A blend of the very best parcels of fruit from the O:TU vineyard in the Awatere Valley, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 2.7 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for 4 months, 40% of the wine in seasoned oak barrels. Bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, lighter on rim. This has a very concentrated and densely packed bouquet with an amalgam of ripe gooseberry fruit and subtly integrated savoury secondary nuances, along with notes of fresh herbs and minerals. The aromatics unfold and become voluminous. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, softly dense, rich, and subtly interwoven, complex flavours of ripe gooseberries and savoury stonefruits fill the palate. Delicate nuances of minerals, spices, herbs and oak add interest. The fulsome mouthfeel is enlivened by a line of lacy, mouthwatering acidity, and the flavours are carried to a bright, refreshing, sustained finish. This is a subtly rich and concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with an array of flavours beginning to develop some secondary complexities. Match with herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 2-3+ years. 18.5/20 Aug 2013 RRP $32.99
