O:TU ‘Barrel Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-May-2016
Brilliant, light golden-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on the rim. The bouquet is richly concentrated and deeply packed with layers of aromas showing ripe green stonefruits and tropical fruits with a core of gooseberry and greengage essence, lime marmalade, and nutty notes, along with secondary development bean-like and herbal suggestions. Medium-sweet and light-bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with lusciously rich flavours of green stonefruit essence, tropical fruits and lime marmalade, detailed with nutty and piquant herbal elements. The mouthfeel balances a sense of unctuousness with very fine textures and crisp, enlivening acidity. This has a deeply packed core and line which carries the concentrated gooseberry and greengage essence flavours to a long, lingering ripe flavoured, but refreshing finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, medium-sweet late harvest Sauvignon Blanc with a rich core of stonefruit essence flavours and the beginnings of secondary complexities. Match with fruit desserts and baked desserts, including tarts and flans over the next 5+ years. Late-harvested Sauvignon Blanc with approx. 50% botrytis, fermented to 10.0% alc. and 43 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months in seasoned oak. (375 ml) 18.5/20 May 2016 RRP $71.95
