Ostler Waitaki Valley North Otago Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 30-Oct-2018
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on the edge. The nose is fresh and lively with bright aromas of white stonefruits and subtle notes of white florals with pears and a little saline, chalky minerality. This has purity and clarity, and the aromatics form an elegant core with good intensity. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has sweet fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits with subtle notes of pears, honeysuckle and florals, with nyances of minerals. The fruit forms an easy rich core, and the wine flows along a smooth, lush line with delicate, refined textures and fresh, lacy acidity lending freshness and energy. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish. This is a softly rich and luscious, medium-dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit, floral, pear and honeysuckle flavours with mineral nuances on a smooth palate with freshness and brightness. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the limestone soils of the ’Home’ vineyard, fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 7 g/L RS, the wine given minimal lees contact. 17.5+/20 Oct 2018 RRP $22.00
