Ostler ‘Caroline’s’ Waitaki Valley Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 13-Apr-2012
The flagship wine for Ostler, multi-clone Pinot Noir destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.1% alc., the wine aged in 20% new French oak. Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. This has a very fresh, intense and bold, aromatic nose of ripe dark berry fruits, with plums and violetty florals, complexed by notes of oak and dried herbs. The palate features vibrant fruit flavours of ripe blackberries and boysenberries along with fine floral lift. The fruit expression combines great clarity with sweetness, this underlined by lively acidity, resulting in poise and excellent tension. Very fine tannins form excellent structure and length, the finish showing minerality and acid cut. Serve with poultry, pork and veal over the next 5-7+ years. 18.5+/20 Jul 2011 RRP $48.00
