Ostler ‘Caroline’s’ Waitaki Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 30-Jun-2014
Moderately deep, dark garnet-hued ruby-red colour with light bricking on edge. This has an elegant, penetrating bouquet with fine and intense aromas of savoury red berry fruits entwined with complex secondary dried herb, undergrowth and mushroom notes and cedary, minerally nuances. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly structured with succulent, savoury red berry fruits and dried herb complexities. The mouthfeel is lively and lacy from good acidity, and follows a very fine-grained tannin line. This has richness allied to acid raciness, with a refined core, and the flavours flow with energy and drive to a very long, sustained, savoury fruited, gamey finish. This is an elegant and succulent Pinot Noir with a racy mouthfeel, fine line and savoury development flavours. Serve with poultry, pork and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5+ years. Clones 667, 777, 115, 6 and Abel, from 9 y.o. vines, the fruit destemmed and cold soaked, fermented to 14.0% alc. 18.5-/20 Jul 2014 RRP $59.00
