Ostler ‘Blue House Vines’ Waitaki Valley Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Jan-2013
Fruit from the Crosbie's ‘Blue House' block, the wine made in the ‘modern Germanic style'. Fermented to 8.5% alc. and 39 g/L rs. Bright pale straw-yellow colour with green hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and tightly bound, slender in proportion with focussed and complex aromas of white florals, lime fruit and flinty reduction. Medium-dry to medium to taste, and light-bodied, restrained flavours of minerals, limes and white florals are based on a soft-textured palate. The mouthfeel is one of delicacy with balanced lacy acidity that underlines a subtly concentrated core, which promises to reveal more. The flavours flow to a soft, dryish and gentle finish of moderate length. This is a subtle and soft-textured Germanic-styled Riesling with minerally notes. It should develop more complexity over the next 4-5+ years. Serve as an aperitif. 17.5/20 Jan 2013 RRP $27.00
