Osawa ‘Winemaker’s Collection’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Nov-2012
Ruby-red colour with some depth, garnet on edge. This has a softly concentrated nose with rich dark berry and cherry fruit with plum notes, revealing nutty oak, spices, raspberry liqueur elements and a little herbal interest. Full=bodied, this is rounded and soft in mouthfeel with integrated and harmonious flavours of dark red berry fruit, savoury plums. The palate has alcohol power and gentle, underlying tannins which provide a fine-textured, but driven line, leading to a finish featuring spicy, nutty oak and bitter cherry flavours. This is a full-bodied and powerful Pinot Noir with rounded textures to match roasted poultry dishes over the next 4-5 years. Fruit hand-picked and fully destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 21-25 days on skins and aged in 80% new French oak. 17.5+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $TBA
