Osawa ‘Prestige Collection’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Nov-2012
Full, even, light ruby-garnet red colour, a little orange on rim. The bouquet is very fine and elegant with tightly bound and penetrating aromas of spicy red berry fruits and oak, lifted with red floral nuances. Medium-full bodied, concentrated flavours of red berries, fine Asian spices, and cedary oak are supported by very fine-grained tannins and enlivened by fresh acidity. The wine is elegant in proportion with a youthful firmness and drive to the palate mouthfeel and line, leading to a very long and sustained finish, somewhat dominated by the oak. Very finely textured with an elegantly firm palate, this Pinot Noir has spicy fruit and oak flavours that should come together with interest over the next 4-5 years. Match with Mediterranean duck and red meat dishes. Hand-picked fruit destemmed and given a cold soak, fermented to 14.01% alc., the wine on skins up to 25 days and aged in 80% new oak. 17.5+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $39.99
