Osawa ‘Prestige Collection’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 04-Aug-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with some green hues. The bouquet is very refined and elegant, tightly concentrated with intense, steely-fresh aromas of citrus fruits, white stonefruits, nutty oak and subtle flinty lees work, with a little creamy MLF emerging in glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate is tightly bound and elegant in proportion. The flavours of citrus fruits, nuts, flint and oak toast are driven with power and linearity. Fine, lacy acidity is in support, enlivening the fruit and providing real freshness and cut through the palate. The mouthfeel is lively and balanced, and the flavours and fine textures are carried to a very long and sustained finish. This is an elegant, refined and concentrated Chardonnay with citrussy and nutty flavours and fresh acidity. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit WBP and fully barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in French oak undergoing MLF and batonnage. 18.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $40.00
