Osawa ‘Prestige Collection’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Nov-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemony-green hues. Intense, elegantly penetrating aromas of citrus fruits are complexed by yellow stonefruit, flint and spicy, nutty oak detail. Dry and medium-bodied, this is elegantly proportioned, with tightly bound and intensely packed flavours of citrus fruit and spicy oak. The fruit has a sweetness and succulence enhanced by bright and balanced acidity. A subtle underlying creaminess of texture from the barrel-fermentation moderates the textured drive, providing a linear drive, leading to a finely concentrated and long, lingering finish featuring citrus and spicy oak elements. This is an intense and elegantly concentrated Chardonnay with oak-spiced citrus fruit. It will develop greater richness and interest over the next 3-4+ years. Serve with poultry and pork. Fruit hand-picked and WBP, fully barrel-fermented to 14.06% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 30% new French oak, the wine undergoing batonnage over 8 months. 18.5-/20 Nov 2012 RRP $34.99
