Osawa ‘Flying Sheep’ Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Oct-2015
100% Gewurztraminer given 6 hours skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.8% alc. and 2.48 g/L RS. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight lemon hues. This has an elegantly concentrated and intense nose with aromas of rose-petal florals entwined with herbs and root-ginger, the aromatics showing a steely purity. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a good core of fruit, showing rose-petal florals melded with yellow stonefruits, root ginger and herbs, the fruit possessing some sweetness and richness. The palate follows a very fine-textured line, the acidity soft and integrated, and the core reveals spice and musk nuances as it flows. The wine finishes dry with ginger, herb and musk notes. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 3-4 years. 17.0/20 Oct 2015 RRP $28.00
