Orlandi Contucci Ponno ‘La Regia Specula’ Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG 2011

Montepulciano from Italy - Other
Review Date : 29-Aug-2015
Saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose isrich, ripe and concentrated with aromas of black cherries and berries, along with plums, tar and ink. The fruit has vibrancy, intensity and lively lift and nuances of spices and nutty oak adding complexing detail. Medium-full bodied, rich, lush and juicy flavours of ripe black berry, cherry and plum fruit are the feature on palate. This has depth and a fulsome, weighty core. The mouthfeel is soft, rounded and fine-textured with good structure in support. Tar and ink complexities unfold, and the wine carries to a solid, rounded, moderately long, lingering finish. This is a serious, rich, plush and weighty Montepulciano with complex nuances. It will keep 8-10 years. Hand-picked Montepulciano fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine aged 8-12 months in 200 hL oak and in tank. 18.0+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $38.00
