Opawa Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Dec-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is youthfully fresh with a soft amalgam of ripe gooseberry fruit with lantana and tropical fruits forming a gentle core, revealing mineral elements with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a soft and rounded heart of sweet gooseberry fruit with harmoniously interwoven passionfruit notes. The fruit has richness and lusciousness. The palate flows smoothly and easily, with slippery acidity, showing an attractive, up-front balance. The wine leads to a light, lingering, gooseberry fruited finish. Serve with salads, vegetables and Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Opawa’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel with a small portion in large oak cuve to 13.0% alc. and 2.4 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.5-/20 Dec 2014 RRP $19.95
