Opawa Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Dec-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, pale edged. The nose is light and tightly bound, with clear and pure aromas of white stonefruits along with nuances of green stonefruits and herbs. The aromatics are steely and mouth-wateringly refreshing, revealing a floral and mineral amalgam with nuances of fermentation esters. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly presented with a firm core of white stonefruits along with subtle nutty elements and savoury stonefruit kernels. The palate has linearity, following a thread of fine phenolics, and has integrated acidity lending freshness and balance. The wine carries to a fresh finish with floral and stonefruit flavours. This is a tight, elegant, dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit flavours and nutty notes, in the Pinot Grigio style. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Wairau and Awatere valleys, cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and 3.1 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.0/20 Dec 2015 RRP $22.50
