One Off Hawke’s Bay Late Harvest Semillon 2010

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Oct-2012
Semillon fruit from the Maraekakaho district with botrytis infection, WBP, given 6 hours skin contact and indigenous yeast fermented in barrel to 13.5% alc. and 83 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees. Brilliant lemon-golden yellow colour, pale on rim. The bouquet is full and firm with solidly packed aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits, herbs, savoury honey and grapefruit marmalade from the botrytis, with nutty oak elements. Moderately sweet and full-bodied, flavours of yellow stonefruits, honey and marmalade form a soft, dense core. The acidity is low, contributing unctuousness and a rounded mouthfeel. Some phenolic grip provides a textural line through the palate line, providing a drying balance to the sweetness. The palate flows to show good power and weight on the finish. This is a full, soft and weighty dessert wine with some textural grip balancing the sweetness. Serve with baked desserts over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $29.95
