One Off Gisborne Albarino 2014

Other White from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 21-Oct-2014
Albarino from Doug and Delwyn Bell’s Gisborne vineyard from vines planted 2009, hand-picked and brought to Hawke’s Bay, WBP and cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and dryness, the wine aged several months on lees. Bright, even, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless. This has a fresh, tightly focussed nose of savoury white florals with delicate stonefruits notes alongside funky herb and thirst-quenching mineral elements. The nose reveals a little waxy, nuttiness in the glass. Dry to taste and slender in proportion, taut and delicate fruit flavours of white florals and exotic fruits flow on a smooth-textured palate. The mouthfeel has an unctuousness and lusciousness balanced by racy, crisp acidity, and the wine carries with vitality and drive to a lingering finish with herbal elements. This is an elegant and delicate dry Albarino with exotic florals and a suggestion of unctuousness. Serve with seafood and Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. 17.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $29.99
