Omaka Springs Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Mar-2017
Bright, very pale straw colour with a slight blush, near colourless on the rim. The nose is very fresh and gently full with delicate lifted exotic floral and pear fruit aromas, along with fermentation esters and a little musk. Off-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate posses a soft, rounded core with gentle flavours of white and yellow stonefruits and pears, with hints of lifted exotic florals, honeysuckle and musk. The fruit is underlined by grainy phenolics and integrated acidity lending a dry texture to the mouthfeel. The wine carries easily to a lingering dry finish of florals and nuances of fermentation esters. This is a soft and light-fruited dryish Pinot Gris with pear and lifted floral flavours on a dry, textural palate. Serve with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the ‘Kennedys Road’ and ‘Falvey’s Road’ sites, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 12 g/L RS. 16.0+/20 Mar 2017 RRP $19.50
