Omaka Springs Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Oct-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, near colourless on the rim. The nose is fresh and tightly bound with elegant, but intense aromas of white stonefruits melded with flinty and minerally lees and reductive elements, unfolding white florals in the glass. Medium-dry to medium in sweetness and elegant in body, light and tightly concentrated flavours of white and yellow stonefruits are interwoven with flint and mineral notes. The fruit is gently rich and the palate has a subtle lusciousness, and is balanced by some phenolic textures and lacy, background, refreshing acidity. The wine flows to a soft, slightly sweet finish with honeysuckle nuances. This is a medium Pinot Gris with gently rich flavours of stonefruits and minerals, and a fine-textured mouthfeel. Serve with poultry and pork dishes, and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Kennedys Road’ and ‘Falveys Road’ sites, fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 25 g/L RS. 1,440 cases made. 17.0/20 Oct 2015 RRP $18.00
