Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with black hues at the heart, a little lighter on the edge. The bouquet is full and soft with rich dark-red plum fruit aromas and an earthy layer, unfolding subtle herbal and floral elements, and nutty oak. The aromatics are harmoniously presented. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly mouthfilling with flavours of dark-red plums melded with savoury earth notes, revealing herb and floral nuances, along with nutty oak. This is showing some development. The fruit forms a solid, rounded core with soft tannin grip and fine, underlying acidity that carries the savoury flavour to a lingering finish of earth and herbs. This is a soft, flavoursome Merlot with secondary savoury plum and earthy flavours on a soft, textured palate. Match with casseroles and slow-cooked game meats over the next 4 years. 100% Merlot from the ‘Kennedys Road’ and ‘Falveys Road’ sites, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new Hungarian oak barriques. This has a tightly bound and elegantly concentrated bouquet, the aromas of black and dark red plums and black and red currants restrained in expression. Subtle oak spicing and piquant herbal elements unfold adding detail and interest. Medium-bodied, the palate features an elegant, sweet-fruited core of black berries, plums, black and red currants, entwined with lifted oak and a subtle herbal line. The mouthfeel is soft-textured, with supple tannin extraction and integrated acidity, and the wine flows smoothly carrying to a finely concentrated finish with black fruit, herb and sweet oak nuances. This is an elegant and supple Merlot, a little shy in expression, showing a soft core of black fruits melded with herb and sweet oak notes.
